NYX Haul & First Impressions Video

HEY BEAUTIES! So today I have this NYX Haul & First Impressions video. To put it long story-short, there’s FINALLY a NYX Canada store in Toronto now, and I went all sorts of makeup crazy. So I have a few of the things that I purchased here, and I have a few more things I purchased after so if you want to see what I got I definetly can do another haul for you. But listed below are all of the things I purchased & my final verdicts on them ! ENJOY!

WHAT I USED:

Loreal True Match Lumi Foundation W3

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye – There’s not really much I can judge from only really having a super tiny sample of this thing, but as for the consistency and the general coverage of this concealer, I’m enjoying it so far. A friend of mine gets an Ipsy box sent to her every month, and because the majority of the things she receives, she doesn’t end up liking/ doesn’t fit her skin tone or whatever, she usually passes on her left overs to me. Not saying that in a totally un-hygienic way by the way… I don’t mind it all the much so I don’t pay any mind to it. There are a few more things I want to purchase from it cosmetics, and I’m going to let that list accumulate so that I don’t pay a flat rate of shipping on one time concealer. The full size retails to about $29 CAD I believe, but considering how little I needed to use of this concealer, I really did enjoy it. I’d give it an 8/10, only because the colour WAS too pinky on me. You can buy it HERE.

Marcelle Loose Powder “Translucent”

NYX Highlight & Contour Kit // There was SO much hype around this product when it first came out, I have been eyeing it for months (maybe a year at this point?) and I finally decided to buy it. It retails to $27 CAD- Which in comparison to the contour kits that I own (The Kat Von D one that’s like 70 dollars after taxes and the Anastasia one that was $50 dollars, this shit it such a steal) The pigmentation of the pans is great; considering NYX is a drugstore brand, I think they take 1st place for the best quality for the best price- but i may be wrong. The colours are very pigmented and they lasted all day, I hate touching up throughout the day, and despite the fact that I really SHOULD sometimes, aint nobody got time for that aha. The only 2 things I didn’t like about the palette were things that had to do with the packaging. It’s plastic, which usually isn’t an issue but it is so much harder to open than it should be- but take that flaw with a grain of salt because I may just be a troubled human. The second thing that I didn’t like was the actual “pan” that the contour shades come in. It’s designed this way to prevent us users for doing exactly what I would want to do with it; take out the pans and put the in a Z palette or other empty palette of some sort. There’s probably a way of de-potting it, but who am I kidding I am WAY too lazy for that. Overall I give it a 9/10; for the packaging, but you can find the contour kit HERE.

MAC “Bamboo”
Makeup Geek “Creme Brûlée”

H&M Shadow “Act Your Beige” // MAC #299
H&M Shadow “Gingersnap”// MAC #299
Still Eyes Are The Window “Mind” Palette – “Understanding” // Morphe M300
“Understanding” // MAC #299

H&M Shadow “Gingerbread” // From the Shadows of the collection that I have used, I must say I was expecting a lot worse from H&M- Ever since I tried out Forever 21’s “beauty” range (yes, beauty in air quotes) I had given up all hope on more affordable fashion companies creating a decent cosmetics line. I only own the eyeshadows, nothing more- but the eyeshadows aren’t horrible. The only thing that’s horrible is the packaging the thing comes in. It comes in a cute gold package, but it’s very apparent that it’s a very cheap plastic that it’s made in. Like I said with the contour kit- there’s probably a way to de-pot everything but I’m going to have to find the energy to do all of that and god only knows I’ve got none. I’d give the shadows a 7/10- The packaging sucks that badly. You can shop H&M Beauty HERE.

NYC Liquid Liner
KOKO Lashes “Mischa” // DUO Lash Glue

NYX Micro Brow Pencil “Brunette” // The shade itself is a little warm for what I prefer on my brows- I’d rather have a darker brow shade and use a lighter hand than have a warmer colour to work with altogether. I mentioned in the video that the pencil has a really harsh, flat tip once you open it, but when you warm it up on the back of your hand it’s good that you can manipulate it the way you want it to work. Pigmentation is amazing, easily a 10/10 for this product 🙂 You can buy the micro brow pencil HERE.

NYX Tinted Brow Mascara “Espresso”// You guys know that I LOVE the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel, but i was curious to try this brow gel out because I have never found a drugstore brow gel that’s even comparable in the slightest. The pigmentation is great, the only big difference between this brow gel and the ABH one is the hold. The ABH brow gel is MARKETED to literally be super glue for your brows and I have yet to find a brow gel that holds the way the ABH one does. Regardless, the NYX one is still a 10/10 for me; you can buy it HERE.

The Balm “Bahama Mama” Bronzer
NYX Contour Kit // BH Studio Pro Brush
NARS “Lustre” Blush
MAC “Oh, Darling”

MAC “Stripdown” Liner // I only have about a handful of MAC products but the majority of MAC products that I DO own are lipliners. Strip down is slowly becoming my new favourite lipliner. It’s much more neutral than “Spice” which I use with pretty much every lipstick I own, but I enjoy the cool tone of Stripdown because it’s a lot more easy to overline your lips without it being sooooooooooo noticeable. Mind you, overlining your lips IS noticeable in real life…. Imagine we could hide it the way we hide it in pictures? 10/10 for me, and you can shop MAC Lipliners HERE.

Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick “Bow N’ Arrow” // The struggle bus that was FINDING this lip colour. I own 5 everlasting liquid lipsticks now from Kat Von D, and Bow and Arrow was probably the hardest to get my hands on. With that being said, IT IS ALMOST THE EXACT SAME COLOUR AS STRIPDOWN LINER (On my skintone). I was so surprised at how pigmented it was, because nude- neutral colours have the tendency of being streaky sometimes. 10/10, one of my new favourite colours. You can find Kat Von D’s Liquid Lipsticks on Sephora HERE.(It’s sold out now, but feel free to sign up for email notifications for when it’s back in stock on Sephora’s website)

OTHER THINGS I PURCHASED
NYX Lip Lingerie “Bed Time Flirty”
